Let’s Talk Story!

Sabbatical Talk

Stories | Coaching Insights | Exchange and Q&A

I love stories. A boring history lesson suddenly became fascinating when the dry facts were wrapped into a story. So rather than simply presenting you with dry theory, I prefer to share stories from my own life. Experiences that have taught me something, shaped who I am, and given me insights along the way.

To make sure that you are able to take something away from these stories and apply it to your own life, I complement them with insights and models from coaching and the science of happiness. I’ll also give you reflection questions that invite you to connect what you’ve heard with your own experiences. And, of course, there’s time and space for us to dive into a conversation, explore your questions, and exchange ideas.

“Let’s Talk Story” is a Hawaiian expression that means exactly that: having a relaxed conversation and sharing stories and experiences from life!

What we talk about

The three key questions that kept coming up when deciding whether or not to take a sabbatical were:

  • Can I afford it financially?
  • Am I letting my colleagues down?
  • Will I ruin my career?

So that’s exactly what we’ll talk about: how a dress helped me find clear answers, how colleagues react when you start a new job and then take several months off shortly afterwards, and what impact my sabbaticals had on my career.

I’ll share my own stories, but I’ll also explain how and why our brain thinks the way it does, and give you strategies that you can apply to your own life in a way that is personal and meaningful to you. Bring all your questions into this session – you’ll leave with answers and greater clarity.

We’ll spend around 45 minutes on the stories and practical insights, followed by around 15 minutes for discussion and Q&A.

The session will be recorded up until the Q&A section and will be available to you for one month afterwards (until October 8, 2026). You’ll also receive a summary after the session.
